Karen Wasserstein, PsyD
Dr. Karen Wasserstein is a psychologist licensed in Maryland and Virginia who specializes in helping people with fertility issues. She provides counseling to individuals and couples who are trying to build their families, as well as consultations to those using third party reproduction. Dr. Wasserstein provides psychoeducation within the Jewish community about issues relating to fertility. Her hope is to help both lay members and professionals become more aware and sensitive to the needs and experiences of all community members.
Bat-Sheva Lerner Maslow, MD, MSCTR, FACO
Dr. Bat-Sheva Lerner Maslow is double board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. She is a reproductive endocrinologist and the Director of Research at Extend Fertility, where she specializes in counseling women about their fertility and options for fertility preservation. She’s committed to empowering women to make informed decisions about their reproductive futures.
Dr. Maslow lectures and writes on the intersection of halacha and reproduction, and is often called upon as an adviser for questions related to hilchot niddah. She also serves as the Director of Medical Education for the North American Yoatzot Halacha Program and sits on the founding board of directors of the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association (JOWMA).
Dr. Maslow graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College with a BA in History before attending the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. There she received an MD with distinction and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Maslow completed residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania and sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the University of Connecticut. She lives in Riverdale with her husband Jon, and four daughters Aderet, Tehila, Yakira, and Orlee.
Dena Block, Yoetzet Halacha
Yoetzet Halacha Dena Block serves as Yoetzet Halacha for Congregation Agudath Sholom-Minnie Manger Marcia Lieberman Mikvah in Stamford, CT, and mentors newly certified Yoatzot Halacha through Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center. Yoetzet Halacha Block is also the Director of Admissions at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for girls and teaches Gemara and Halakha there. Yoetzet Halacha Block first studied at the Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz in Israel before attending Barnard College. She holds an M.A. in Medieval Jewish History from Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies, an M.A. in Biblical and Talmudic Interpretation from the Graduate Program for Advanced Talmudic Studies (GPATS) at Yeshiva University and Yoetzet Halakha Certification from Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center’s U.S. Yoatzot Halacha Fellows Program. She lives with her husband and 4 children in Stamford, CT.
